"Allow your husbands to suck your breasts during pregnancy," says Lagos Chief Nursing Sister.

Pregnant women should allow their husbands lick their breasts to prepare them for breastfeeding after delivery, according to Roseline Oladimeji, a Chief Nursing Sister.

Oladimeji gave the advise at a sensitization event hosted by Amuwo Odofin Maternal and Child Centre in Festac Town, Lagos, on Thursday, August 5 to commemorate the 2021 World Breastfeeding Week.

"While you're pregnant, let your lover suck your breasts." In addition to bonding, it will help the nipples to be out and make it simpler for your child to latch on. Vaseline can also be applied to your nipples before going to bed. It softens it, according to the nursing sister.

Pregnant women should prepare their breasts during pregnancy to avoid lactation issues after birth, according to the Nursing sister.

Colostrum contains nutrients that help boost the baby's immunity, according to Oladimeji. Colostrum is the first form of milk produced by the mammary glands of mammals (including humans) immediately after delivery of the newborn.

She went on to say, "It's still breast milk."

Certain foods, herbs, and pharmaceuticals, according to Oladimeji, can harm newborns if they transfer into breast milk.

She was especially concerned that drinking palmwine to help with lactation would introduce alcohol into the baby's system during breastfeeding.

Oladimeji also cautioned mothers against seeking advice from those who aren't equipped to care for babies in order to prevent their children from being harmed.
